Marathon Petroleum
An immersive energy-operations storefront in SLC JA City where students step into the role of running a modern refinery and distribution business.
Inspired by industrial control rooms, refinery infrastructure, and real-world energy systems, the space combines branded signage, pipework, valves, gauges, lockers, illuminated panels, and interactive displays. Rather than treating the storefront as a simple office, the design turns the room into an operating environment. Students engage with controls, visual feedback, and layered physical details — a backlit crude distillation unit, region-coded fuel lines, and a live refinery master control — that make the business feel active and technical. The experience connects JA City’s financial and teamwork curriculum with the complexity of energy production, logistics, and decision-making. The result is a highly dimensional storefront that feels part classroom, part control room, and part industrial storybook.
