The Cardinal Shop
Catholic University Lambo Conversion
A compact, mobile spirit store on three wheels — a vintage Italian micro-truck reborn as a flexible, road-ready campus retail platform that meets students where they already are.
The Catholic University Lambo conversion was designed as a compact, mobile spirit store that could bring campus merchandise directly into the path of student life. Built from a vintage three-wheel utility truck, the project transforms a charming Italian micro-vehicle into a flexible retail platform with fold-out display walls, integrated shelving, branded graphics, and a deployable canopy. The design balances nostalgia, utility, and campus pride. When closed, the vehicle feels like a polished brand object moving through campus. When opened, it becomes a small walk-up shop with surprising capacity, turning sidewalks, quads, event plazas, and game-day gathering areas into instant retail moments. Every inch was considered for storage, display, durability, transport, and quick setup, creating a tiny storefront with a big little-engine-that-could personality. The result is part spirit shop, part campus landmark, and part retail Swiss Army knife: a memorable, road-ready experience that helps Catholic University meet students where they already are.
